Good decorating ideas for a teen bedroom?
Jul 14th, 2009 by admin
I’m a fourteen year old girl and I want to re-do my room. I don’t have a large budget, and I can’t paint, but I have an open mind. I don’t have a large space to work with. I have a ton of posters, books, shoes, and pictures. How do I make my room look more mature and organized? Any ideas welcome. Thanks so much!!!

I recently was in the same situation, and I did some simple things and now my room looks great! First I went through everything in my room and got rid of everything that I no longer wanted. A lot I had just out-grown or I just never used it. Once you get rid of everything you no longer need in the room, I did some simple things to organize it. First I bought some cheap photo frames and put some pictures of friends and family in them and hung them on my walls. I decided I no longer wanted posters and such so this was a nice alternative. I bought some calendars that were on sale, and I used the top section (the picture) and framed them for over my bed. It was a really cheap way of getting some art in the room! I wanted to bring some new colors in my room, so I made some pillows for my bed by buying fabric from the fabric store and some stuffing. It was a lot cheaper then buying already made ones, and plus its fun because there are so many options and you can really choose exactly what you want. I also got a new area rug for my room which brought some color in. I had a lot of shoes too, and one way that’s fun to organize them is to paint the shoeboxes different colors and then stack them. It looks cool, but it’s also practical! I also got an over the door shoe organizer for the rest of them—since I obviously couldn’t have a room full of stacked boxes! Also check out local antique and thrift stores. You can sometimes get inspiration for design ideas and ways of organizing your things—and usually you can get them for a good price rather than buying new. Good luck with your re-decorating!
