We haven’t had rain in a week. Hot july weather. Grass is dry and brown. If i start watering / rains, how long will it take for it to return to its green color?
Answer:
If you soak the lawn every day for 5 days straight, the color will return in about 3 weeks or so. Your lawn has shut itself down due to drought stress this is why it has browned up and stopped growing. After the five days of soaking, you can cut back to about 3 times a week at a lower watering time. “Do not” fertilize the lawn at this time in hopes that this will turn it green. It will only stress out the lawn more by “forcing” it to grow. Only fertilize when it has fully recovered and has greened up and growing well. Hope this answers your question… …Billy Ray
