Go get anything from the 60s.

Hippy or hippie? If you mean hippie, posters, lava lamps, bean bag chairs and black lights were all the thing back then. along with bead curtains, bookshelves made of boards and decorative cinder blocks. The less things match, the better, because a lot of it was taken out of the trash and picked up off the street.

If you mean hippy, I’m sorry but that’s a style I’m not familiar with.

I wasn’t trying to be snide. You threw me for a loop when you said you didn’t want any of the ‘crap’ that made the hippie style what it was. And young people sometimes use words that mean one thing to them and another to me. Hippie is one of those words.

having been one at one time I have to say there was no hippie style furniture. What ever was free was what we furnished with. But be sure to get a copy of Abbie Hoffman’s book “Steal this Book” and keep it on the coffee table.

    See Alice k’s answer above.
Be sure to add an orange or avacado green shag carpet, and a popcorn ceiling.
    papason chair
    indian prints for bedding, curtains
    paintings on velvet
    That’s all I remember [ lived during the 60s - hehehe ]
