Ok I just bought a house and need some help I am wanting to decorate, paint etc. etc. but I have like no interior decorating skills what sooooooo ever….I want to go for the elegant look…very nice, warm and welcoming…. right now I have hunter green carpet throughout the house…and basically white walls throughout….the bathrooms are old tile which is in the process of being pulled up so any and alllllllllll suggestions are awesome…..
Personally, I would ditch the hunter green carpet for a nice neutral berber.
start looking thru design type magazines , and books
go to like barnes and nobles or whatever book stores you have near you and start looking for pics of interiors you like then use those ideas on your own house
thats what i do , you can get some ideas that you wouldnt have thought you’d like

pull up the hunter green carpet, and put in white carpeting (or tan) and paint the walls a pretty NEUTRAL shade of yellow (tan-ish) or a nice, light shade of blue or green if you want cool colors. get some really pretty light fixtures in the living room and possibly a cieling fan
for the bathroom, i’d paint it blue, or a color representing water, because, well, it just fits! and white tile floors. definitely.
put up some pretty beach pictures on the walls, or just pictures that’ll make you happy while you’re doing your business haha
good luck!!
Pull the carpet and put a neutral color down with or with out shagg. It will have a higher resale value later on. I wanted the same warm feeling so I painted my largest wall in my living room a italian wine color (burgendy) and I love it. Right about the wall is a plant shelf and it is painted a dark cream color. It is such an inviting color and warms up the whole room. In my bedroom is a medium tan color and it matches with anything and everything, I did the wall with a window in it. IF you go to home depot or a store like that they have tons of books and ideas to help you. they even color match your paint if you bring in a sample of a color off an item you want
good luck, don’t stress this will be fun
