I live in Texas around the Dallas area and am looking for a new home. It’s been hard to find homes that we like that are within our price range and in a good location so we are thinking about building a custom home. We want a four bedroom, three bath, 2 story house around 2600-3000 sq. feet with 2 living rooms and a two car garage. The house would be standard decor with crown molding, wood floors and stuff like that as extras and our budget is maybe $325,000 at most. How much would a house like that cost including the lot, the contractor, architect, materials and whatever else?

just do some research. Find out comparable prices in the neighborhood. builders will always price your house by the sqare foot. my guess is in the 75 to 85 dollar a foot range. do the math.

It depends on where you live, and the quality you want. Ours is a modern style house, and where i live, it cost over 1,000,000 dollars to build. Even using cheaper materials than we did (we used highest/high/medium-high quality) i do not think you could build it for 325,000 dollars. Sorry!

It all depends where you live, around here they charge about $1,000 per square foot, so that base cost would probably be around $26,000, to begin with, that wouldn’t include labor and materials and all of that. Call constractors in your area and ask them what they’re rates are, good luck

In Dallas, a decent custom home (McMansion quality or there lack of) will cost you around $120 sf construction cost. That alone exceeded your overall budget. You still need to acquire the land, which will run you a minimum of $200k for something decent with access to utilities. For $325k, you should have a lot of homes to choose from.
