i want to know do I have to boil the sugar water sub? does red dye really affect them? how long should it take for them to notise my feeder when almost every one on my st. encluding my neibor? pluse how often should i change it?

Answer:
No, you don’t have to boil the water. You just need to dissolve it thoroughly. Don’t use red dye. Just have some red color on the feeder itself to bring them in. A new feeder can sometimes take weeks for birds to notice – though if your neighbors have some, and there are many birds around, it shouldn’t take as long. You’ll need to change the nectar and clean the feeder about every 3-4 days – even if they DON”T find it, and there is still nectar there. The sugar water will being to grow mold and stuff after that amount of time, and birds tend to avoid dirty nectar.
