first you have to no what look your going for:modern, etc
A golden brown color would be a good choice. You could add throw pillows in stripes that include brown, red & green. You usually pay more for a sofa from a “lifestyle” store like Pottery Barn than you do at a conventional furniture or department store. I like this one.:http://www5.jcpenney.com/jcp/ProductsHOM.aspx?DeptID=40525&CatID=40658&CatTyp=DEP&ItemTyp=G&GrpTyp=PRD&ItemID=1316206&ProdSeq=29&Cat=sofas-loveseats&Dep=Furniture&PCat=sofas&PCatID=40527&RefPage=ProductList&Sale=&ProdCount=34&RecPtr=&ShowMenu=&TTYP=&ShopBy=0&RefPageName=CategoryAll%252Easpx&RefCatID=40527&RefDeptID=40525&Page=4&CmCatId=EXTERNAL|47875|40527|40658
I have the identical color scheme in my living room and have a dark sage green sofa. One of my chairs is a matching plaid with green, gold and red and another is a small floral with the same colors. Don’t buy everything to match in a set or it looks unoriginal. Start with a sage green couch that you love and add different colors, styles, patterns and textures in pillows, throw, and accessories.

A brown couch would work too with the right pillows and accents.
I think you should buy the couch you like then paint the walls a colour that looks good with the couch. You can take a cushion to the store and the salesperson will help you pick a paint colour.
something i’ve done to help me visualize what things will look like, if you have a digital camera, take a pic of your living room now, and save the pic on your computer.
then go to a website like Jcpenney or something (http://www.jcp.com) and go to their sofa page and then save a couple of their sofa pictures with different colors from their site and copy and paste them into your living room picture. will give you an idea of what it will look like.
I did that when deciding which sofa to get for my living room, which is a golden yellow color. Right now I have a tan/neutral sofa.
here is a shot of my LR: http://good-times.webshots.com/photo/2492108720101034622mwgGQc?vhost=good-times
I had thought about a deep red or green before getting the neutral. I’m now thinking about getting a 2 pc slip cover to go over the sofa in a dark brown/ chocolate kind of color.
here is a link to the Jcpenny website, has all kinds of sofas:
http://www4.jcpenney.com/jcp/X3.aspx?DeptID=57087&CatID=57090&cmCatLevel=3&CmCatId=57087
but if you can just do a copy and paste, won’t be perfect but will at least give you a semi-visual on what you like for your living room.
Either dark brown or dark sage sofas would go well with your golden blond color in your living room. I hope you enjoy spending time in your newly decorated living room.
Your wall color is considered a warm neutral color and just about anything will go with it. You can use your reds and greens, you can use turquoise or other blues, you can use browns and blues – just about anything your heart desires. You’ve chosen a wonderful wall color so go with your gut – and you’ll love your room!
Darker or natural colors. I would go with a cranberry color. My entire house from the living room to the bed and bath rooms are cranberry and gold. And in some rooms I use just a touch of brown
