Getting ready to close on our first home.
It’s not huge, a nice starter home.
Has an eat-in kitchen. I really like the bar height tables and chairs and we’ve found a table we like that comes with two chairs and both rounded ends of the table fold down for space.
Q1. Would a bar height or standard height make the kitchen look bigger?
One of the first things on our to-do list is get the bathroom remodeled. A local contractor did my parent’s bathroom a few years ago and it looked great. We ordered a custom sized extra long and wide shower base and then had the walls tiled in 6inch tiles (pretty sure it’s 6″). The walls were painted Cocoa Mocha (a neutral creamy tan color). But the plans for this new home are to do it in muted blue colors-possibly.
Q2. What tile size looks best in a smaller bathroom? Should i look for more 6in tiles or go for the really small ones?
Any other paint/decor tips you’d like to share that worked well for you–i’d appreciate it.
Thanks in advance!
I have just painted it “oats”(light tannish color) on top, “october red”(deep maroon) on the bottom, separated by a border of vintage fruit (black back ground with grapes, apples and pears) I have a lot of fruit decor but I can’t figure out a good way to arrange things on the wall. I have a 10′ long wall. I have a picture from home interiors that is made to look like a fruit basket painted on tiles. It is this picture that I got the colors for the walls. I have a set of plates that hangs on the wall..one has an apple, one with pears and the other grapes. I also have these 2 shelf thingys that look sort of like topiaries of fruit. But How do I decorate the wall with these things with out it looking tacky? or too busy? or too lame?
I have an old kitchen from the 1920′s/1930′s that I want to redo. I don’t have the money to get really modern cabinets/counters and all that. I am simply having a new wood look floor installed. The only cabinets are a small section of painted old style, from floor to ceiling, cabinets with glass doors on the top part, which I love. The room size is 13′ x 14′ with 9′ ceilings. I have a lot of woodwork because there are two windows and four doorways and the cabinets in the room. So far I have primed everything and my dilemma now is a color scheme. At first I was thinking all white walls and woodwork for a bright and fresh look and add color with new curtains and decorations, etc.. But now I need ideas, because I just can’t decide. I tend to like an old fashioned or country look. I dont want to stain, I want to used only paint. Anyone have any ideas? My light in the kitchen is punched tin and my kitchen set is the farm table style. My floor will be an oak color (fake wood) laminent. Also, if anyone knows of any websites that can give me ideas, that would be great too. I get country home magazine but it hasn’t been too helpful. My livingroom that leads into my kitchen has a country decor with tans, burgundy and black. Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks!
I am looking to add magical touches to my home and will be visiting disneyland paris for a few days in may. I was wondering whether there are any home decor type shops in disneyland? Any sort of home accessories/decor would be great. Are there any shops you would recommend?
Outside of disneyland paris, if anyone knows any good shops other that disneyshopping.com for any adult disney decor home items then it would all be appreciated. We are looking for subtle items, as we want it to look ‘grown up’ but just with a hint of Disney magic!!
Thanks!!
